Determined to end Veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors is the nation’s leading provider of trained Service Dogs to military Veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma.
Who can sign up to get a service dog?
Veterans diagnosed with service-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and/or military sexual trauma (MST).
How much does it cost for the vet to get a dog?
Free. K9s For Warriors is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and our service comes at no cost to accepted veterans. The only cost is travel to and from the training location(s), with outside resources available to potentially assist with that.
What kind of service dogs are offered?
Service dogs for veterans.
Station dogs for provide emotional support to police officers, firefighters, dispatchers, victims, and others exposed to traumatic events in the line of duty.

Where does the organization get the aminals to train?
Dogs go through a multi-stage training pipeline:
Selection from shelters/rescues
Basic obedience and socialization
Advanced task work (interrupting anxiety, nightmare interruption, crowd buffering, etc.)
Public access training (stores, public transit, crowds)
Matching is based on:
Temperament
Energy level
The veteran’s specific needs, environment, and lifestyle
