What makes this organization unique?
Founded by veterans to serve veterans, we exist to effect long-term and tangible change in the lives of veterans and their families. We ensure veterans and their families receive programs and services that help them acclimate back to family and civilian life.
BBF accomplishes this by:
Providing elite service dogs to disabled veterans of all eras suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury and physical limitations, at no cost to the veteran
Building a community of peer support for veterans and their families through programs, events and social media
Providing education and awareness to the public and private sectors pertaining to service dog law and etiquette, the rights of disabled veterans and other issues facing our veteran community
Who can sign up to get a service dog?
Service dogs to disabled veterans of all eras suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury and physical limitations
How much does it cost for the vet to get a dog?
Free, at no cost to the veteran.
What kind of service dogs are offered?
Mobility and Psychiatric Dogs
How long does it take to get the new service dog?
That really just depends on the individual veterans needs and disabilities. And then which dogs we have in the program - how far along they are in the training and how long it would take the right dog to be matched and trained for that specific veteran's needs. It could be a couple months to a bit longer depending on those variables.
Where does the organization get the aminals to train?
varies.
