Leg Up Farm’s mission is to enrich the lives of individuals and families with special needs and unique challenges, through support and customized programs.
Who can sign up to participate:
Leg Up Farm is proud to offer equine-assisted psychotherapy for veterans and first responders, helping them work towards a renewed sense of self, developing trust and rebuilding relationships, finding a connection to others, promoting relaxation and improving communication skills.
How Much Does It Cost?:
FREE or highly subsidized. Many of the group equine-assisted psychotherapy programs are complimentary for Veterans. For individual sessions or to include family members of the veteran there are complimentary sessions that we offer through funding. They also, offer financial assistance to subsidize what the person can afford since insurances do not accept equine therapy as a form of therapy despite its evidence based benefits.
What kind of activities are offered?
Equine therapy For Veterans, have PTSD/EAP group opportunities as well as traditional talk therapy counseling. They have certified equine and mental health professionals who work with each Veteran to provide tools to help manage conditions that a Veteran may be experiencing. All activities are unmounted and do not require equine experience.
How Long Do The Activities Last?:
Most services range from 45 minutes to an hour and a half in length depending on what the activity is.
