What makes the organization unique?
Gateway Family Services of Illinois, a 501(c)3 organization, exists to help heal and transform the people of Central Illinois by providing individualized, intensive and innovative counseling services that include trauma focused-equine assisted psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), as well as art, play, sand and nature therapies to individuals and families.
Who can sign up to participate:
Any veteran who has received an honorable discharge
How Much Does It Cost?:
There is no cost to attend services.
What kind of activities are offered?
Fall In Fridays:
Weekly support group that is offered Friday mornings, 0830-1030, with no referral needed. Fall In Friday evening edition is offered quarterly, 1800-2000, to accommodate schedules. Watch the website www.gatewayfamilyservices.org/veterans for updates
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Services:
Chad Cottrell, PMHNP-BC, joins the Gateway Family Services of Illinois team after 20 years of dedicated service at the VA. He brings extensive experience and expertise in treating PTSD and other trauma-related diagnoses. Chad offers a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, providing veterans with the compassionate medication support they need. A referral is required, and our agency is here to assist veterans in obtaining the necessary referral.
Individual/Family Therapy:
Veterans and their families can participate in mental health sessions that provide trauma-focused equine-assisted psychotherapy, EMDR, and Equine Connected-EMDR. A referral is required, and our agency is here to assist veterans in obtaining the necessary referral.
How Long Do The Activities Last?:
Time varies and the Veteran can choose their level of engagement/participation. 2-Day Retreats are now available.
