What makes the organization unique?
Based on camaraderie, compassion, freedom to dive, and the Code of Conduct, Dive Pirates will support, train, equip, and provide dive travel to individuals with mobile disabilities through Adaptive Scuba Diving.
Who can sign up to participate:
Individuals with impaired mobility due to injury or a diagnosed medical condition affecting mobility. Dive Pirates focuses on those who have never been scuba certified or have not been able to dive since their mobility impairment. Veterans with amputations, spinal cord injuries and those with hearing loss or vision impairment would be the most common candidates.
How Much Does It Cost?:
Recipients must cover the costs of their passport, dive insurance, nitrox, and incidentals during the trip and just agree to fund raise to offset the costs of dive training and travel.
What kind of activities are offered?
Adaptive Scuba Diving
How Long Do The Activities Last?:
You can apply to the Dive Pirates Adaptive Diving Program year-round. We typically host up to two trips per year and will partner with a Dive Pirates Chapter to provide training and gear for both the recipient and their buddy in preparation for the trip.
