What makes the organization unique?
Artists in Arms is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the Greater Houston and Conroe areas of Texas. Founded in 2021, they are dedicated to empowering Veterans through creative expression and career development in the arts — built around three core values: Creativity, Community, and Camaraderie. To empower Veterans by fostering artistic expression, supporting career development, and building community connections.
Who can sign up to participate:
Veterans and military-connected individuals in the Greater Houston and Conroe, Texas areas. Family members are welcome at events.
How Much Does It Cost?:
Programming is generally free or capped at $25 for Veterans participating in events. Occasionally, ,they may hold special events such as fundraisers with ticket prices that are adjusted for the event.
No membership fees for Veterans.
What kind of activities are offered?
Social events, Arts Market Vending opportunities, second service opportunities, workshops, gallery showings, ArtCar team, mentorship, and art discussion events.
.O.G.s (Forward Operating Galleries) — Pop-up gallery events where Veteran artists can show their work, network, and make sales while increasing visibility for Veterans in the arts.
HTX ArtCar Division — A collaborative art vehicle project where Veterans work together to design and build art cars for community events and exhibitions.
Mandatory Fun — Hands-on workshops where Veterans can learn new skills, collaborate, and create together.
Op: GameChanger — A second service program giving Veterans an outlet to serve their community through the arts.
Mentorship — One-on-one and group mentorship connecting emerging Veteran artists with experienced artists and artisans.
Events & Socials — Social gatherings providing opportunities for Veterans to connect, share common interests, and build community.
Artists in Arms also maintains an Artist Directory showcasing Veteran artists and offers Arts Market vending opportunities to help Veterans develop and sustain careers in the arts.
How Long Do The Activities Last?:
Each event is different but generally 1 - 6 hours.
