Hardwater Warriors — Ice Fishing: AHH's premier ice fishing program takes 450–500 military members, veterans, and families out on the ice each season. Events are held at lakes in the Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley area as soon as the ice is safe. All equipment is provided — ice shanties, poles, jigs, bait, and a hot meal. Participants need a current Alaska fishing license and warm clothing. Events run 5–6 hours each.
Warrior Weekend (Camp): Two family weekend camps are held each year at the Alaska State Elks camp in Sutton, Alaska — one the weekend before Memorial Day and one the last weekend of September. Friday through Sunday, these camps include equine events, UTV trail rides, family games, kids' crafts, evening bonfires, and all meals provided. Group cabin lodging is available on site.
Island of Hope and Healing: AHH operates a bookable retreat island, built in partnership with BYUtv's The Fixers in 2019. Veterans and families can book a stay at this one-of-a-kind Alaskan healing retreat.
Hiking & Snowshoeing: AHH takes veterans out on guided hikes and snowshoe events, including at Eagle River Nature Center — often in partnership with Wounded Warrior Project.
Skiing: Adaptive and recreational skiing opportunities are also offered.
How Long Do The Activities Last?:
Varies. Ice fishing events run 5–6 hours. Warrior Weekend camps run Friday afternoon through Sunday morning (approx. 2 nights). Island of Hope stays vary by booking.
