What makes the organization unique?

AdventureVet (ADV) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Moab, Utah, founded by Army Airborne Paratrooper Dave Frey — evolving from the Veterans Charity Ride to Sturgis program created in 2014. ADV brings wounded and amputee combat veterans from all branches of service and all across the United States to Moab, Utah for life-changing, holistic healing experiences rooted in adventure, camaraderie, and peer support.

Who can sign up to participate:

Wounded and amputee combat veterans from all branches of service. Veterans are nominated — either by themselves or by someone who knows them. There is no open public enrollment; participation is through the nomination process at adventurevet.org

How Much Does It Cost?:

Free — All programs are provided at no cost to veterans.

What kind of activities are offered?

Retreat (WELL VET wellness program, lodging at Red Cliffs Adventure Lodge)

ADV Programs include:
Motorcycle & Recreational Therapy — Veterans are provided with street and dual-purpose motorcycles (modified when needed), trikes, and sidecars specifically designed for amputees and paraplegics, as well as UTVs/ATVs for off-road excursions through Moab's vast wilderness and national parks.

WELL VET — A comprehensive health and wellness program combining a personalized nutrition plan, physical therapy, exercise, and Kaqun oxygen water therapy for the alleviation of stress and physical pain. Certified health and wellness coaches work directly with veterans daily for the first 5 weeks, with ongoing weekly and monthly follow-up support.

MOTO DONO — A veteran motorcycle donation program where industry partners and the public donate motorcycles and ATVs. ADV refurbishes and modifies them as needed, then gifts them to deserving veterans or places them in the ADV service fleet.

Veterans are hosted at Red Cliffs Adventure Lodge, a premier lodging partner located on the banks of the Colorado River, surrounded by national and state parks with abundant off-road and adventure opportunities.
