Servicing Tahoe/Alpine Meadows area

What makes the organization unique?

Achieve Tahoe is a 501(c)(3) adaptive sports nonprofit based at Alpine Meadows Resort in the Lake Tahoe region, dedicated to building health, confidence, and independence in people with disabilities through outdoor recreation. Founded in 1967 by a group of Vietnam Veterans with disabilities who taught themselves and others how to ski, Achieve Tahoe has over 55 years of experience serving veterans and the disability community.

For veterans and active-duty service members with disabilities, Achieve Tahoe offers year-round adaptive sports at 50% off posted activity fees, with full scholarships available so no veteran is turned away due to cost. Programs are primarily funded through private donations and sponsors.

Typically, two multi-sport camps are hosted each year — one in winter and one in summer — offering veterans a structured, supported introduction to adaptive outdoor sports. Achieve Tahoe also partners with the Hi5s Foundation for the annual Military to the Mountains week at Palisades Tahoe, introducing veterans and first responders to skiing and snowboarding.

Activities include: Snowsports, Sailing, Climbing, Water Skiing, Adaptive Horsemanship, Hiking, Archery, Paddle Sports, Sierra Summer Sports, and Adventure Camp.
