What makes the organization unique?

Diveheart is a nonprofit tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. The purpose of Diveheart is to provide and support educational scuba diving programs that are open to any child, adult or veteran with a disability, with the hope of providing both physical and psychological therapeutic value to that person.

They’ve discovered the forgiving; weightless wonder of the water column provides the perfect gravity-free environment for those who might otherwise struggle on land. Underwater, we’re all equal.

Diveheart works with individuals who have a variety of disabilities, including physical and developmental disabilities, vision and hearing impairments, amputations, traumatic brain injuries, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and more.

How Much Does It Cost?:

Pool sessions are Free and trips can be subsidized in part or full based on need.

What kind of activities are offered?

Each Diveheart Buddy certification level builds on the previous one, demanding greater experience, skill, and responsibility from each buddy candidate.

Diveheart Pool Buddy Training consists of:
Reading Diveheart Adaptive Scuba Instructor and Dive Buddy book
Completing eLearning
The equivalent of one full day of land-based training and exercises
The equivalent of two full days of confined water training

Diveheart Dive Buddy Training is the above plus:
The equivalent of one full day of open water training

Diveheart Advanced Dive Buddy Training is all of the above plus:
A series of advanced challenge skills
*30 Diveheart Experiences,15 in open water are also required before certification, but not necessarily included in coursework

Diveheart Scuba Instructor Training is all of the above plus:
Co teach a Diveheart Buddy course with a Diveheart Adaptive Scuba Instructor Trainer

How Long Do The Activities Last?:

Pool sessions are about 3 hours on average…trips can be three to seven days.
