What makes Veteran Service Dogs Organization unique?
Our mission is to provide Service Animals to US Military Veterans. Through the hard work, dedication, and passionate care of our trainers and providers, we train both the service animal and the Veteran.
The training of each dog is tailored to the Veteran in need. They train the dogs to assist with disabilities such as: PTSD, TBI, Panic Disorders, Physical Disabilities, Bipolar Disorder, Seizures, Diabetes, and many more.
Who Can Sign Up for a service dog?:
Any honorably discharged Veteran with 1 year of service or more that suffers from a disability that impacts their daily functioning.
How much does it cost to participate:
Free
What kind of Service dogs are offered by the organization?:
Breeds vary based upon the individual needs of the Veteran. Tasks trained also vary based upon the individual needs of the Veteran. The most common tasks are related to PTSD, TBI, Panic Disorders, Physical Disabilities, Bipolar Disorder, Seizures, and Diabetes.
How long does it take to acquire the service dog after signing up?:
Depending upon the individual needs of the Veteran, training typically takes from 6 months to 1 year.
Where does the organization get their puppies to train?:
They receive out dogs from a combination of sources. They receive dogs from shelters, breeders, and surrenders.
